Services: EmergenciesThe Forest Hills cat Hospital is NOT a 24 hour facility. We are open Monday and Wednesday till 8 pm and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday till 6 pm. Every Saturday and two Sundays a month we are open until about 1:30 pm. Om Saturday and Sunday nights a doctor usually comes in to check on the hospitalized cats. The same policy applies to the Sundays that we aren’t open in the morning; a doctor comes in to do rounds.If you have an emergency after hours, please call the office and instructions will be given to you by our answering machine. Briefly your options are the Elmhurst Animal Emergency Hospital located nearby on Queens Blvd. This is only an emergency clinic. They are open from 8 pm on Friday and stay open continuously till 8 am Monday. On weekdays they open at 8 pm. At 8 am Monday through Friday you must come and pick your cat up because the emergency clinic closes weekdays at 8 am. At that point you can bring your cat home if he/she is sufficiently stable. If your cat hasn’t been sufficiently stabilized at the emergency clinic, you can bring him/her directly to our office at 8 am on weekdays and Saturdays. DO NOT bring your cat to our office at 8am on Sundays unless you are certain that we are open on that specific Sunday. The other option for an emergency is to take your cat to a 24 hour hospital (a hospital that is fully staffed 24 hours a day). There is no such hospital in Queens. The nearest 24 hour hospitals are The Animal Medical Center on the east side of Manhattan, The Center for Specialized Veterinary Care in Westbury, NYC Veterinary Specialists in Forest Hills or Ultra-Vet Diagnostics in Mineola. In the 24 hour hospitals you have the option of taking your cat out of these facilities if it is stable enough or you can leave your cat there if It is unstable or you would rather not transport it to the cat hospital.
